Shangrila 香格里拉

Shangrila is the important stop for the journey from Yunnan to Tibet, with regular buses to Lhasa and

I wished that I had time to take a bus to visit Monastery (松赞林寺) Which is on hill a few kilometers north of town. The temple was restored by an architect named Xu Wei Han in 2005 to reflect its past glories. Our tour guide only allowed us to take photos from miles away.

For local Tibetans the Lama is considered one of the most important religious figures in Tibetan Buddhism. You can see his portrait throughout the area.

I visited two tibetan cultural centers and walked around several white towers clockwise, spin many prayer wheels, and had views of meadows and cows.
